Area Beaches Score Free Wi-Fi

County Wi-Fi now available at Cupsogue and Meschutt Beaches.

Feel free to bring your lap top, Kindle, iPhone or iPad to in Westhampton and and Shinnecock East beaches in Hampton Bays: All now have free Wi-Fi.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy said Tuesday that these beaches are part of the 11 county parks and beaches that now offer free Wi-Fi.

According to Levy, not only will the Wi-Fi service benefit park visitors, but will also aid the county with better policing.

Levy said that with Wi-Fi, police can use IP-based video surveillance to monitor and protect park assets remotely.

In addition, Levy said lighting at the parks that have IP-based capability can be remotely turned on and off, which can reduce electricity costs when parks are used after normal business hours.

Be sure to keep your devices safe. I've found these iLoc Cases and used them a few times at the beach. They work great and are really the best bargain out there when it comes to protecting your phone, kindle or ipad. I got a couple phone cases for just a $1 at www.iLocStore.com
