Westhampton Man Charged With Driving on Drugs With Kid in Car

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

A 34-year-old Westhampton man faces a felony DWI charge after Southampton police said he drove on drugs into the Riverside McDonald’s with his three-year-old son on Nov. 23.

Officers said they pulled over David Amorose at around 7 p.m. after receiving a call about a man falling asleep while driving into the fast food joint on Flanders Road. Police said that Amorose, who had his three-year-old son in the car, appeared to be under the influence of Xanax.

Amorose was charged with aggravated DWI with a child, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child and driving while ability impaired by drugs, both misdemeanors.
