Westhampton Beach Police Log: Man Charged With DWI Second Time This Month

Westhampton Beach Police reports through July 23.

The following incidents were reported to Westhampton Beach police over the past week.

DWIs

• James Aldrich, 58, of Westhampton Beach, was charged on July 20 at 2 a.m. with felony DWI and for aggravated unlicensed, also a felony. Police said he received felony counts because of a prior DWI conviction in 2010. He was also charged with operating a car without an interlock device, a misdemeanor. Police said he was pulled over on Hazelwood Avenue for making an unsafe lane change, speeding and failing to stop at stop sign. 

• Jose Aguilar-Abac, 28, of Westhampton Beach, was charged on July 21 at 1 a.m. for DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said he was pulled over on Sunset Avenue. He had no headlights on. This is the second time police charged Aguilar-Abac this month. On July 6 police pulled him over on Old Riverhead Road after they spotted him driving 10 miles an hour. Aside from charging him with DWI, he was also charged with unlawful use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor. The owner of the car told police that the car was taken from Joe’s American Grill parking lot.
