Town Police Log: Sex Offender, DWI and Criminal Possession

A Hampton Bays woman, who is registered as a sex offender, was arrested after she moved to Holbrook and failed to register her new address.

Recent arrest reports for the Hampton Bays, Westhampton and Remsenburg-Speonk area:

Failure To Register as a Sex Offender

Katherine Lynn Hand, 49, of Holbrook was arrested March 8 at 10:18 p.m. at work in Riverhead and charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a felony. Police said Hand was not living at her registered address on Carter Avenue in Hampton Bays and failed to report she moved to Holbrook.

Criminal Possession of a Weapon

Update March 16, 2012: The Southampton Town Justice Court dismissed or reduced charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. Herger was fined for disorderly conduct, a violation. Previously: Luke Kirk Herger, 31, of Hampton Bays was arrested at his home on Lawrence Avenue at 8:27 p.m. on Saturday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood flow and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Police said Herger get into an altercation at his residence, threatened the other person with a rod and put the victim in a choke hold and broke multiple items in the home.

Driving While Ability Impaired

Briana M. Holman, 23, of Northport was arrested at 1:58 a.m. Thursday in Hampton Bays and charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol, a violation, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Holman was driving westbound on Montauk Highway with his rear plate light out. When he was pulled over, an officer noticed alcohol on his breath and he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, police said. He was additionally charged with having inadequate lights, a vehicle violation.

False Personation

Felipe Calgua Macario, 21, of Westhampton was arrested at 10:03 a.m. in Speonk and charged with false personation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree and being an unlicensed operator. Police said Macario gave a false name, “Miguel Macario Calgua,” during a traffic stop on Montauk Highway to avoid being identified, because he had multiple driving suspensions.
