Town Police Log: Possession of Pot and Open Containers

Police found three bags of marijuana in a car they pulled over.

On March 19, police arrested Jean Giarratano, 32, of Southampton for criminal possession of a controlled in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.  Police say Giarratono, was pulled over on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays for a cracked windshield and for tailgating. Police found a strong odor of marijuana coming from her car.  Police say Giarratano admitted to using marijuana. Police also found hash in the car.

On March 29 Police arrested Anthony Lavazoli, 21, of Center Moriches for unlawful possession of marijuana and moving from a lane unsafely, both misdemeanors.  Police say Lavazoli was caught swerving west on County Road 104.  Police smelled marijuana in the car and found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the front console. Also in the car were three bags of marijuana.  Police say Lavazoli was sober.

Open Containers

Lennyn Ortega, 22 of Hampton Bays was arrested and released on an appearance ticket for having an open bottle of Heineken.  Ortega was caught with the open bottle on Alamora Road in Hampton Bays.

On March 16 Police arrested and charged Melissa Williams, 39, who is homeless in Hampton Bays, with having an open container of vodka.  She was caught at the corner of Good Ground Road and Springville Road.
