Town Police Log: Middle Island Man Arrested in Hampton Bays for Burglary

Robert Dozier was also charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and robbery.

Robert Dozier, 27 of Middle Island was arrested on East Canal Street in Hampton Bays on April 16 on charges of resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, robbery and burglary.  Police say they were called to a domestic incident at Canal Court East. Upon arrival, a female told police that Dozier unlawfully entered her home and shoved her to the ground. He then took her cell phone and keys and left.  Police say he fled on foot towards North Road.  With the help of the New York State K-9 patrol and Suffolk County Aviation, police were able to find and arrest Dozier.  He was charged with burglary in the second degree, a felony, robbery in the third degree, a felony, criminal possession in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor and criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor.

DWI

Marcelino Periz-Tax, 41 of Westhampton, was arrested on April 15 Hamilton Avenue in Westhampton for charges of DWI, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a car and failing to keep right.  Police Say Perez-Tax arrested after he swerved and drove his car off the road, striking a mailbox and a tree. Periz-Tax, according to police was not injured in the accident.

Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Peter Burdge, 53 of East Quogue was arrested on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton on April 15 on charges of criminal contempt in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said, Burdge left his 10-year-old daughter in the car alone for a period of time in Bridgehampton. He was also charged with violating an active order of protection.  He was arrested at his home in East Quogue.

Assault

William Rodriguez, 52, of Hampton Bays was arrested on April 15 on charges of assault in the second degree, a felony and criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.   Police say they were called to the rear of King Kullen in Hampton Bays after Rodriguez struck another man in the face with a vodka bottle.  The man was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for his injuries and Rodriguez was nabbed a short time later on Ponqogue Avenue.

Criminal Mischief

William Sinclair, 24 of Speonk was arrested on April 13 on East Road in Speonk when police were called with a report that Sinclair, who was intoxicated, was breaking items that did not belong to him while involved in an altercation with his father. Sinclair was charged with criminal mischief in the 4th degree, a misdemeanor.

Drugs

Buddy Cor, 18 of Hampton Bays and Brandon Jones, 18 of Calverton were both arrested on charges of  unlawful possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Police say they were caught smoking pot in a car in Riverside on March 30.

Jamie White, 24 or Southampton was arrested on April 16 on charges of DWAI on Oaktree Lane in Hampton Bays. She was also charged with not wearing a seat belt and moving from a lane unsafely, having her driver’s view obstructed and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police say White was caught after she drove her car into shrubs. They said she was acting in a strange manner.  She was found to be in possession of an unmarked bottle of non-narcotic bills and an unmarked bottle of marijuana, which was found in the front seat.  She failed poorly on a drug impairment test and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for minor injuries.
