Town Police Log: Man With Ecstasy, Ketamine Blocked Traffic

Also among the week's arrest reports, two charged with resisting arrest in separate incidents at clubs/

• Jowil A. Paulino, 23, Jamaica, was arrested July 14 at 8:44 p.m. in Hampton Bays and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third, fourth and seventh degrees, with the top charges being felonies and the latter being a misdemeanor. Police said Paulino stopped his vehicle in the middle of Dune Road, preventing traffic from safely passing. According to the arrest report, a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. In addition to possessing marijuana, he also had ecstasy and ketamine, police said. He was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and standing on pavement, a traffic infraction

• Chester E. Morris, 49, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested July 14 at 7:49 p.m. at Mermaid Lane in Hampton Bays and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Morris was observed ingesting a white powdery substance with a co-defendant, and Morris removed a clear plastic baggie containing a white powder from the center console of his parked vehicle and placed it on the ground next to his vehicle.

• Mitchel F. Crisci, 32, of Lake Grove, was arrested July 14 at 7:49 p.m. at Mermaid Lane in Hampton Bays and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Crisci was observed ingesting a white powdery substance with a co-defendant and was in possession of a small white pill in his front left pants pocket, which he described as a “Molly.”

Driving While Intoxicated

• Douglas Gotay, 42, of Garnerville, was arrested July 15 at 10:19 a.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony, and DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they responded to a 911 call of an erratic driver and located and pulled over Gotay.

• David K. Funt, 57, of East Rockaway, was arrested July 14 at 8:47 p.m. in Quiogue and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.  Police said Funt was speeding and failing to maintain his lane when they pulled him over on South County Road near the Old Meetinghouse Lane intersection. He was additionally charged with speeding and moving from lane unsafely, both traffic infractions.

Resisting Arrest

• Samantha Ximena Bedoya, 38, of Miller Place, was arrested July 14 at 7:24 p.m. in East Quogue and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, as well as harassment in the second degree and disorderly conduct, both violations. Police said Bedoya pushed an officer in the chest twice while at Neptune Beach Club, and she tried to kick the officer and pulled her arms and hands away when he was placing her under arrest.

• Thomas Robert Bartley, 22, of Hampton Bays, was arrested July 14 at 3:04 a.m. at the Beach Bar on Foster Avenue in Hampton Bays. Police said Bartley was “highly aggressive and hostile towards the bouncers,” and attempted to fight them. He then was hostile toward police officers, who he attempted to kick while he was being placed under arrest, according to the arrest report.

Failure to Register

• Darren Stein, 37, of Riverside, was arrested July 10 at 6:33 a.m. in Westhampton and charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a felony. Police said Stein was arrested at the homeless sex offender trailer in Westhampton after failing to register his address change.
