Town Police Log: Man Served Felony Warrant

Also in the town police blotter, East Quogue residents charged with larceny in separate incidents.

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

• Tremel Kelly, 19, of Riverhead, was served 13 warrants by Southampton Town Police April 23 at police headquarters in Hampton Bays. Eleven of those warrants were traffic-related violations dating back to April 9. Kelly was additionally arrested on a misdemeanor warrant of fleeing a police officer on that same date and a warrant for criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree, a class-E felony.

Petty Larceny

• Susan Hartmann, 43, of East Quogue, was arrested April 26 at 2:13 a.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays when she showed up for questioning by detectives and was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Cops said Hartmann stole blank checks from another woman and cashed them at a bank.

• Judi Bluman, 67, of East Quogue, was arrested April 27 at the Stop & Shop supermarket in Hampton Bays at 4:11 p.m. She was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, after a store security guard reported to police that Bluman walked out of the store with a shopping cart full of flowers, plants, and a half-gallon of milk without paying for the items which totaled $85.85.

Criminal Contempt

• Manuel Ortiz-Ponce, 48, of East Quogue, was arrested on a charge of criminal contempt in the second degree, a class-A misdemeanor, at Pine Neck Road In East Quogue April 29. Police said Ortiz-Ponce was in violation of an order of protection. The order was issued by town justice court March 3 of this year.  

Cops: 3 Charged With Drug Possession and 1 Had Illegal Handgun

• Joshua McDermott, 23, of Flanders, was arrested in Hampton Bays on April 28 along with Kenneth Gordon, 36, of Central Islip and Justin Benkov, 26, of  Flanders. All were charged with one count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Cops said the three men were spotted in a vehicle on West Montauk Highway at 12:34 a.m. and were found to be in possession of marijuana and open containers of alcoholic beverages. Benkov was additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon, second degree, a C felony, after police found an illegal handgun in the car.

2 Charged With Possessing Crack Cocaine

• Charles Roach, 47, of Riverhead and Deena Colgan, 40, of Southampton, were arrested together at 3:33 a.m. on Flanders Road in Flanders on April 27 after police stopped a vehicle being driven by Colgan. Both were charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Cops said a quantity of crack cocaine was found in the vehicle. Roach, the passenger, was additionally charged with unlawfully consuming an alcoholic beverage in the car, a traffic infraction.

DWI

• Jennifer Gaffney, 37, of Riverhead, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, in Flanders April 25. Police said they observed Gaffney speeding on Flanders Road at 3:21 a.m. After she was stopped, police said the driver failed field sobriety tests including a positive breath test for alcohol. Gaffney was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, after a quantity of marijuana and a crack pipe with residue was found.
