Town Police Log: Man Punched in Car Window and Broke iPhone

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Criminal Mischief

Steven Espinoza, 37, of Hampton Bays was arrested Friday at 11:02 p.m. at the corner of Noyack and Fish Cove roads in North Sea and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief and suspended registration, both misdemeanors; and second-degree harassment, a violation. Police say a woman with whom Espinoza was arguing with ran away from him, locked herself in a car in the driveway and then tried to call 911. According to police, Espinoza ran out to the car, punched the driver’s side window in, and broke her iPhone. He then drove away, until police say they found and arrested him.

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

Travis L. James, 30, of Riverhead and Lauren Lubrano, 27, of Hampton Bays, were arrested on the corner Brookhaven Avenue and Polk Street in Flanders on Saturday, May 21 at 6:16 p.m. Both charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police say they found Phencyclidine (PCP) on them during a traffic stop.

Debra Sofio, 23, of Islip was arrested Monday, May 30 at 4:58 p.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Sofio was arrested after police found that she had oxycodone.

DWI

Maynor G. Erazo, 29, of Hampton Bays was arrested on the corner of Flanders Road and Birch Avenue in Flanders on Monday at 1:56 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Erzao was stopped for speeding.

Stephanie Lewis, 26, of Arlington, Virginia was arrested on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays on Sunday at 1:26 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. She was pulled over for a traffic violation.

Nilton R. Ulate, 49, of Hampton Bays was arrested on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays on Saturday at 11:14 p.m. and charged with felony DWI because of a prior conviction. Ulate was stopped for driving out of lane.

Jeremy Garoppo, 28, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was arrested Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Garoppo was pulled over for driving out of lane.

Barbara Ann Pearsall, 49, of Westhampton was arrested on Old Country Road in Westhampton on Saturday at 9:37 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Pearsall was stopped for driving out of her lane.

Forged Instrument

Christopher Blackett, 20, of Manhattan, was arrested Saturday at 4:52 p.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. Police say they smelled marijuana on Blackett, charging him with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. After investigating, police say they learned he had a forged driver’s license.

James Grant, 20, of Manhattan, was arrested Saturday at 4:52 p.m. on Dune Road in Hampton Bays and charged with second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. Police say  Grant was seen walking to the beach with a friend, smelling of marijuana, when police discovered he had a forged driver’s license.
