Town Police Log: GPS Led Police to Missing Phone

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property
Raul Quezada, 26, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Dec. 9 at 1:43 a.m. on Rolling Woods Lane in Hampton Bays and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. GPS on a phone that was reported missing led police to Quezada’s home, and police say he admitted he had the item.

Petty Larceny
Eddie Brown, 52, of Riverhead, was arrested Dec. 8 at 12:02 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Brown came into headquarters on notice for an arrest warrant he had received. Brown allegedly stole two tires with rims valued at $70 from the Best Price Auto Repair Shop on Riverleigh Avenue in Riverside.

Unlicensed Operation
Jerry Smith, 60, of Eastport, was arrested Nov. 29 at 2:20 p.m. at the corner of Montauk Highway and Eastport Manor Road in Eastport and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Smith was stopped for numerous traffic violations when officers saw that his licensed had been suspended for a prior alcohol-related conviction and that he had marijuana in his car, officers said. A passenger in the car, Tracy Montefusco, 34, of Eastport, was charged with facilitating unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, because police said she knew his license had been suspended, but allowed him to drive anyway.
