Town Police Log: Burglary Charge for Hampton Bays Man

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

arrest reports for west of the Shinnecock Canal for Jan. 30 to Feb. 6:

Burglary

• Vincent A. Riela, 48, of Hampton Bays was arrested Feb. 4 at 1:07 a.m. at 250 Montauk Highway East in Hampton Bays and charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony. Police said the arrest stemmed from an investigation into the theft of a cash register in October 2011.

DWI

• John G. Randolph, 25, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Feb. 1 at 5:28 p.m. on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as following too closely, a traffic infraction. Police said Randolph was involved in a reportable motor vehicle accident and he told the arresting officer he drank too much.

• Joseph Neil Manarino, 41, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 4 at 4:12 a.m. in Flanders and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree-alcohol related, a felony; DWI, a misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic infraction. Police said Manarino was driving faster than 65 in a 55-mph zone near the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road, and he did not have a functioning rear license plate light. He was found to be intoxicated and his license has been suspended five times for various prior incidents and failure to pay child support, police said. His vehicle was impounded.

• David R. Davis, 40, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 2 at 1 a.m. at the Flanders Road and Glider Avenue intersection in Flanders and charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors. Police said Davis was pulled over for failing to stay in his lane of travel. After being stopped, police said they detected alcohol on Davis’ breath.  He was additionally charged with moving from lane unsafely and failure to obey a traffic control device, both traffic infractions.

Filing a False Instrument

• Donald R. White, 46, of Riverhead, was arrested Jan. 30 at 2:03 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with filing a false instrument in the second degree and submitting a false written statement, both misdemeanors. According to an incident report, White filled out a falsified Southampton Town Affidavit of Landlord so that another man pretending to he his tenant could obtain a town shellfishing permit. Police said White turned himself in after the Probation Department told him he had charges pending against him. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in court Feb. 29, police said.
