Town Police Log: Two DWI Arrests

DWI
• Melvin Garcia-Arias, 44, of Speonk, was arrested March 18 at 6:19 p.m. in Westhampton at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Corwin Place. Garcia-Arias was charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a violation, after a traffic stop revealed that the man was intoxicated, police said.

• Roberto Deleon-Cojon, 22, of Flanders, was arrested March 16 and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he was stopped on Cypress Avenue by police in Flanders at 10:11 p.m. Cops said Deleon-Cojon was driving with an open container of Modello beer in his possession and also had eight suspensions on his driver's license. After failing a breath alcohol test, the man was taken into custody, police said.

• Alexander Haje, 25, of Southampton, was arrested at 5:54 p.m.on Montauk Highway and Canoe Place Road in Hampton Bays and charged with circumventing a vehicular alcohol screening device, a class A misdemeanor. Police said Haje, by law, is restricted from driving without such a device due to a previous drunk driving charge.
Drug Arrest
• Kathleen Harrison, 49, of Riverhead, was arrested for unlawful marijuana possession, a violation, in Riverside March 13 at 7:18 p.m. after she was stopped by police at the intersection of Flanders and Old Quogue Road. Cops said Harrison "freely admitted" to possessing marijuana and that there was a strong odor of the drug emanating from her car. She was issued a court appearance ticket.
