Town Police Log: Arrest Made in March Burglary; Multiple DWIs

Several people were arrested in the Westhampton-Hampton Bays area on charges of driving under the influence.

Burglary

Alfred Dorrien, 53, of Landing, New Jersey was arrested Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and charged with burglary in the second degree, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Police said Dorrien was witnessed on March 3 breaking into an apartment on Spinney Road in East Quogue and removing items. Sheriff’s deputies also observed him removing items from bags that were placed on the curb after a lawful eviction from the same address, police said.

Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Alcohol

Christopher James Bougatsos, 21, of East Quogue was arrested Thursday and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, being an unlicensed operator, and two counts of making an unsafe turn, all violations. Police said Bougatsos was pulled over at Wigeon Lane and Canvasback Lane in East Quogue after failing to signal during two turns. When stopped, smoke and the smell of marijuana was coming from the his car. Bougatsos admitted to having smoked marijuana 20 minutes prior and still having some marijuana on him. Further investigation concluded he was also under the influence of alcohol, police said.

DWI

Daniel P. Lennon, 37, of Hampton Bays was arrested Saturday at 12:57 p.m. and charged with DWI, driving with an open container and making an unsafe turn.  Police said Lennon was driving on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays when he was observed failing to maintain his lane. When he was pulled over, he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Rodolfo Caal, 25, of Shinnecocks Hills was arrested Saturday at 9:06 p.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and failing to stop at a stop sign, a traffic infraction. Police said Caal was pulled over in Hampton Bays at Gate Street and smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests.

John Randolph Mims, 32, of Greenport was arrested Saturday at 4:14 p.m. and charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, and speeding, a traffic infraction. Police said Mims was stopped for speeding on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. He also had a suspended license. He also performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests and failed a prescreen breath test. He refused a chemical test.

Samuel J. Creech, 21, of Hampton Bays was arrested April 5 at 2:24 a.m. and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and moving from lane unsafely and crossing a double yellow line, both traffic infractions. Police said Creech was pulled over for failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and when stopped, his eyes were blood shot, his speech was slurred and he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and failed a prescreen breath test, police said.

Lauren A. Hulse, 21, of Southampton was arrested Thursday at around 3:50 a.m. in Eastport and charged with DWI. Police said Hulse was driving westbound on Sunrise Highway at 78 mph and unable to maintain her lane of travel. Upon being pulled over, it was determined she was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
