Superintendent: Students Were Not Involved In Post-Game Brawl

Westhampton Beach Superintendent Michael R. Radday said the district is investigating.

Westhampton Beach Superintendent of Schools said in a Tuesday morning statement that he does not believe that any of the district's students were involved in a that occured last Friday night on the East Quogue Elementary School basball field.

"The incident took place away from the Westhampton Beach School District Campus and at this point, we do not believe any of our current students were involved," said Radday.

Raddy did say, however, that the district is investigating the incident.

As previously reported, Southampton Police were called on Friday night to the with reports of some 40 teens wielding basball bats, following a school between Bellport and Westhampton Beach.

Police arrested one teen, Wilson A. Garcia, 19, of East Quogue, who police say allegedly hit a 17-year old Bellport boy in the head with a bat and damaged his car.

Garcia was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony; criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

The Bellport boy was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and later to Stony Brook University Hospital for brain swelling. He has since been released.
