State Police Nab 35-Year-Old For Alleged DWI, Crack Possession

Mathew Lennon of Hampton Bays was charged on Saturday.

State Troopers charged a 35-year-old Hampton Bays man with DWI after he reportedly failed a sobriety test on Saturday, blowing a .09 percent BAC.

Police say they stopped Matthew Lennon on Route 24 in Southampton and while interviewing the Lennon, troopers say they detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. 

According to police, crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana were also found in Lennon's car. In addition to DWI, he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and traffic violations.

Lennon was held for arraignment in the Town of Southampton Court.
