Police Log: Sex Offenders Charged; Memorial Day Weekend DWIs

Southampton Police reports from May 22 through May 31.

Sex Offenders Charged

Southampton Town Police say that on Wednesday they charged Manuel Guadalupe Mendez-Corona, 43, of Westhampton with forcible touching, a misdemeanor and endangering the welfare of a child, also a misdemeanor. Police say the charges stem from a February 2012 incident that involved a 14-year-old. Mendez-Corona is being held on $4,000 bail

Felix Garcia was arrested by Southold Patrol Officers on Monday on a Southampton Town warrant for failing to register.  Police say Garcia is a Level 3 sex offender from Flanders. Police say he was last registered at the DDS trailer. 

Grand Larceny

Police say they charged Marie Sabbatino, 40 of East Moriches with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony on Thursday. Police say the charge steps from an April 28 incident in which an employee reportedly stole $1585 worth of patient's co-payments from a chiropractic office on Montauk Highway in Westhampton. Police say Sabbatino was working as a secretary at the time of the theft.  

Southampton Police say they charged Julie Giordano, 30 of Hampton Bays with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony.  Police said the charges stem from a March incident in which a Birchwood Lane, East Quogue, homeowner reported that approximately $10,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from her home as well as a pair of gold earrings worth $1,100.

Conspiracy

Police have charged Tiffany Langhornm 28 of Shirley with petit larceny, a misdemeanor; conspiracy, a misdemeanor; and forgery a felony, in connection with the theft of prescription pads from Prime Care Medical Center in Hampton Bays.  Police say they traced the pads, which were forged for Vicoden and Oxycodone to pharmacies in Brentwood. Also charged in connection with the incident was Quinton Evans, 36, of East Patchogue.  He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor; two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony; and conspiracy, a misdemeanor.  

DWIs

On Thursday at 1:06 a.m. Southampton Town Police charged Fernando Elias, 33 of Westhampton with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police say Elias was stopped on County Road 31 in Westhampton for failing to maintain his lane of travel.

On Friday, police say they charged Gerald P. Lennon, 47, of Hampton Bays, with DWI. Police say Lennon was driving on West Montauk Hwy, Hampton Bays. when police pulled him over for an equipment violation. Lennon was also charged with a vehicle equipment violation.

On Saturday, police say they charged Martin Popovic, 37, of Pleasant Valley, New York at 9:22 p.m., with DWI. He was stopped on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

Also on Saturday, police charged Roberto Olmedo, 31, of Hampton Bays with DWI. Police say they found Olmedo, “passed out” behind the wheel of a 2000 GMC suburban, which was stopped in the southbound lane of Peconic Road, while the engine was running. Olmedo was also charged with operating without a license and stopping within the travel portion of roadway and various infractions. 

On Sunday, police say they charged four individuals with DWI in separate incidents. Balmore Zelaya-Mendez, 35, of  Virginia was charged at 3:45 p.m. on Flanders Road in Flanders; Oscar Mora, 38, of  East Quogue, was charged at 8:49 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays; Panagiotis Manaridis, 23, of Queens, was charged at 9:35 p.m. on North Sea Road in Southampton; and Kenneth Kramer, 49, of Brooklyn, was charged at 10:00 p.m. on Springville Road in Hampton Bays.
