Southampton Police: Man Drove With Open Can of Busch; Charged With DWI

Southampton Town police arrest reports for west of the Shinnecock Canal through March 10.

DWI

• Thomas Kesler, 55, of Riverhead, was arrested on March 8 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. According to police reports, Kesler was pulled over for failing to maintain his lane of travel and failing to signal a turn on Flanders Road.

He was reportedly found to have a 24-ounce open can of Busch beer in his car, had an odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. Police said he performed poorly on roadside field sobriety tests, and had a prior DWI conviction, over 10 years ago.

• Carl Ligon, 35, of Southampton, was arrested on March 9 and charged with DWI drugs, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree. Police said he was driving southbound on Old Quogue Road when he stopped, backed up unsafely and almost collided into a marked police car.

According to police reports, his breath smelled of an alcoholic beverage, his eyes were glossy and red, his speech slurred and he failed roadside field sobriety tests. 

• Drew Coyle, 23, of Riverhead, was arrested on March 8 on a misdemeanor charge of DWI drugs and a violation charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said that Coyle was stopped while driving on Long Beach Road for having no plate lamp around 11:45 p.m.

A strong odor of marijuana was reportedly emanating from the vehicle, and police said Coyle had bloodshot eyes. Police said he performed poorly on roadside field sobriety tests, and he was in possession of marijuana.

• Eduardo Monzon, 33, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested on March 10 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. According to police, Monzon was stopped for driving on the shoulder of the road and swerving in and out of his lane.

He was reportedly staggering and swaying while being interviewed, and police said he performed poorly on roadside field sobriety tests. 

• Nicholas Delmonte, 22, of Brookhaven, was arrested on March 9 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. According to police, he was driving northbound on County Road 104 around 8:30 p.m. when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Police said that further investigation revealed he was intoxicated.

• David Asher, 36, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on March 9 and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. According to reports, Asher failed to maintain his lane and failed to signal. He was reportedly found to be intoxicated.

Drug Possession

• Korintha Magee, 22, of East Patchogue, was arrested on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, on March 9.

According to police reports, Magee was the passenger in a car that was stopped on Old Quogue Road in Riverside. The driver was charged with DWI, another passenger for marijuana possession, and a search of Magee’s handbag reportedly revealed that she was in possession of Percocet without a prescription.
