Southampton Police: Man Charged With Assault At San Gennaro Festival
Police say a 25-year-old Hampton Bays man punched another man.
A 25-year-old man was arrested for assault at the end of the Saturday night.
Police said Shawn Stoeckert of Hampton Bays approached a 23-year-old man, also from Hampton Bays, near the corner of Good Ground and Springville roads at around 9:41 p.m. Police say Stoeckert said to the 23-year-old man, “What do you want to do?” and then punched him in the face in an unprovoked attack.
The Hampton Bays San Gennaro festival was held Saturday and Sunday along Good Ground Road, which was closed to vehicular traffic.

The was on scene, but the 23-year-old refused medical attention, according to police.
Stoeckert was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
