Southampton Police Log: Several DWI Arrests Around Town

Also this week, an East Quogue man reportedly punched his brother in the face and stole $60 from him.

Criminal Mischief

• Police said Dylan Szczepanik, a Shirley resident, resisted arrest for a littering violation, and while doing so kicked out the passenger rear window of a cop car. The 28-year-old was picked up on Ponquogue Avenue at around 3:10 a.m., charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and later taken to Southampton Hospital for medical evaluation.

Harassment

• An East Quogue man was charged on Saturday with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation, after police said that he punched his brother and then stole $60 from him. The 23-year-old allegedly punched his brother in the face, causing minor bleeding, and was later caught at McDonald’s in Hampton Bays.

Driving While Intoxicated

• Francis Quigley, 32, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday. According to police, Quigley was stopped for driving off the roadway on Shinnecock Road around 3 a.m. He reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and was arrested.

• Gregory Pranzo, 26, of Planview, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of DWI on Saturday. Police said Pranzo was seen failing to keep right and maintain his lane of travel on Foster Avenue in Hampton Bays. Police said he has a 0.15 percent pre screen blood test, nearly two times the legal limit.

• Kevin O’Rourke, 42, of Riverhead, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday. O’Rourke was stopped for multiple traffic violations around 12:05 a.m. on while driving on Montauk Highway East, near Canoe Place Road, in Hampton Bays. Police said he performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests, with a blood alcohol level of 0.13 percent.

• Gumercindo Vera, 58, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Saturday at around 10:30 p.m. Vera was reportedly driving on Evergreen Road, near Priscilla Avenue, in Flanders when the incident occurred, and police said he performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests.

• Andre Andrada, 46, of East Quogue, was arrested on a misdemeanor aggravated DWI charge on Sunday, just before 2 a.m. while driving down Montauk Highway west, near West Tiana Road. Police said Andrada was seen crossing the double yellow lines, and has a blood alcohol level of 0.18 percent, over two times the legal limit. Andrada reportedly had an alias under which he had another DWI, and suspending his driving privileges, police said.

Circumventing an Interlock Device

 • A Mastic Beach man was charged with circumventing an interlock device and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, on Saturday.

According to police, the man was parked illegally in a fire zone on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays around 11:20 p.m. The man reportedly drove away from police when he was approached, was later stopped, and police found later his license had been suspended three times, twice for alcohol-related offenses. He was also supposed to be driving a car equipped with an interlock device, which he was not, police said.
