Southampton Police Log: DWI, Assault and Robbery

Police reports from July 30 through August 6.

Editor’s Note: The following information was supplied by the Southampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

DWI

• Andrya Czekus, 28, of Wading River, was charged with DWI on August 5 after police pulled her over for speeding on Springville Road in Hampton Bays.  Police say there was a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and she has slurred speech.

• On August 6, police charged Marvan Rodas, 38, if Guatemala, with DWI with a BAC of .08 and DWI. Police said Rodas was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Springville Road in Hampton Bays. Rodas was also charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

• Police charged Conor Nolan, 27, of East Quogue, with DWI and aggravated DWI on August 8. Police say they pulled Nolan over on the westbound service road of Sunrise Highway for improper use of signals.

• On August 4, police charged Bacilio Negrete-Gonzalez, 38 of Hampton Bays with DWI and Aggravated DWI. Police said they pulled Negrete-Gonzalez over on Sugarloaf Road in Southampton. He was initially stopped for moving from his lane unsafely.

Criminal Mischief

• On August 5, police charged Sandro Gonzales, 41, of the Bronx, with criminal mischief in the 3rd degree. According to Police, Gonzales, was spotted damaging a car on Dune Road in East Quogue. Police said Gonales punched and kicked the passenger side door of the car repeatedly. He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for medical treatment.

 False Impersonation

• Police charged Aquilino Flores, 21 of Flanders with circumventing an interlock device and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a car on August 5. Police say they pulled Flores over for having no plate lamp. Flores was also charged with false impersonation. Police say Flores had no Id and gave a fake name of Victor Hernandez-Martinez, however, upon search, police say they found Flore’s Mexican ID card.

Drugs

• Police charged three Riverhead and one Southold resident with criminal possession of marijuana in the 5th degree on August 5. Police say the charges were filed after the residents were spotted parked in a car at the wildwood bowling alley smoking the drug.

• Police charged 6 people with criminal possession of marijuana in the 5th degree on august 8. Police say the teens were caught at the pocket park in Hampton Bays. 

Assault

Police charged a Julio Cruz, 31, of Hampton Bays with assault in the third degree. Police say Cruz struck a victim repeatedly causing bruising, swelling and abrasions on July 29 on Fanning Avenue in Hampton Bays.

Illegal Dirt Bike Operation

A Rocky Point and Riverhead resident were charged with operating a dirt bike in the Woodrows Trail in Flanders on July 18. Police say the impounded the dirt bikes. 

Robbery

Police charged Rene Lopez, 35, of Flanders with Robbery in the 3rd degree, a felony. Police say Rene allegedly forcibly removed a cell phone and necklace from his wife on August 2.
