Southampton, Westhampton Beach PD to Tighten Movie Theater Security in Wake of Colo. Shooting

Increased Southampton Town Police presence is meant to prevent copycats, ease fears, after "Dark Knight Rises" shooting.

The will be increasing security at  after an overnight shooting at a Colorado showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in which 12 were killed and at least 50 injured.

The theatre is showing the "Dark Night Rises" throughout the weekend with showtimes on Friday night at 6:40 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Sgt. Michael Joyce said, "We will have extra patrols down there."

Also showing the film is  theatre in Westhampton Beach were  also are increasing patrols all weekend.

Aside from Southampton Police and Westhampton Beach Police, Suffolk County police are  with officers saying they will make frequent checks of movie theaters. The same is true in .

According to the Associated Press, a gunman threw tear gas into a midnight showing of the new film "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado, before opening fire on the crowd.
