Southampton Incident Reports: Police on Hunt For Black Nissan

Also in this week's reports, a man said he got out of the hospital and found his tools went missing from his garage.

Leaving the Scene

• A Hampton Bays resident reported to police that the driver of a black Nissan that hit her car on South Ocean View in Hampton Bays left the scene of the accident. She said she and the other driver agreed to meet at Capital One Bank to exchange information, but the other driver never showed up. Police said they are actively pursing the incident.

Petty Larceny

• Peconic Propane of Hampton Bays reported that sometime between Jan. 18 and Jan. 28 someone took a $400 propane tank from a construction site. Police report that there are no leads or witnesses.

• An East Quogue resident reported on Jan. 19 that someone took a package that was delivered to his home by Federal Express. There are no witnesses at this time, police said.

• A Hampton Bays resident reported on Jan. 27 that someone stole a large sum of coins from a coin jar in his bedroom. Police said prior to their arrival a friend of the resident called to admit that he took the coins. No charges were filed.

• A Westhampton resident on Steward Avenue reported that sometime between Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 someone entered his car and stole a GPS system, valued at $400.

• A North Sea resident reported on Jan. 27 that someone took a $200 navigation device from his car that was parked on Marie Lane in North Sea.

Grand Larceny

• A Hampton Bays resident reported to police that someone took tools from his garage on King Street, including a drywall screw gun, hand brake, and drill. The resident said he had been in the hospital for the past four months and is unsure when the tools were taken.

Trespassing

• An East Quogue resident reported that on Jan. 28 someone wearing dark clothing and a hood entered his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway. The resident said he witnessed the the event on his video surveillance. Nothing was taken from the car.
