Search is On for Dog Who Escaped Accident that Killed Owner

The family of Donna Sartori is asking anyone with information about her beloved dog to reach out.

The family of Donna Sartori, a Middle Island woman who was killed on Sunday morning on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays after she was struck by a drunk driver, is desperately seeking her dog, who they believe ran from the accident scene.

The two-year-old, black and white shih tzu, which goes by the name BamBam, according to Sartori's cousin, Dorreen Obiedzenski, meant everything to Sartori and is believed to have been in the car when Sartori was killed.

"My cousin Donna would want to know her dog was home safe with her family," said Obiedzenski. "If we can find him, it will bring a small bit of comfort everyone."

Obiedzenski said the dog is very important to Satori's 80-year-old parents, who are longing to have him home.

"She loved her dog and my cousin would be more worried about him than herself," said Obiedzenski.
