A Riverside man was arrested Sunday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly fled the scene -- with the driver of the car he'd hit following him.

According to Southampton Town police, a call was received on Sunday at approximately 11:40 a.m. regarding a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Ludlum Avenue and Flanders Road in Riverside.

Before arriving at the scene, police were notified that the driver had allegedly fled the scene in a black pickup, with the driver of the vehicle he'd hit following him.

With the help of Westhampton Beach Village police, Southampton Town police located the two vehicles involved on Montauk Highway, at the intersection of Rogers Lane, in Westhampton Beach.

Southampton Town police arrested Marco Antonio Cruz, 21, of Riverside, and charged him with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, where there were physical injuries, a misdemeanor, as well as unlicensed operation of a vehicle and driving with only one plate, both violations.

Cruz was transported to  Southampton Town Police headquarters for arrest and processing and was held for arraignment.

The second party involved in the accident was taken by Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
