The following information was supplied by the Quogue Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
On Dec. 16 at 8:30 p.m.m Quogue Police say they charged Nicholas Smith, 31, of Oneida, New York with DWI, a misdemeanor, after he crossed over the double yellow line on Montauk Highway and nearly struck a westbound cop car with his red, Dodge Durango.
Police said the officer, as well as a number of cars were forced to swerve to avoid Smith, who was also charged with reckless driving, unsafe lane change and refusing a pre-screen test.
Also on Dec. 16, police charged Zachary Ulrich, 19, of West Islip, with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, after they pulled him over at 1:00 a.m. for driving on the shoulder of Montauk Highway and speeding.
Police said Ulrich was also charged with unlawful possession of a marijuana, a violation.
