Quogue Police Log: Police Chase Man to Riverside

DWI

Sean Bumstead, 28, of Coram was arrested by Quogue Village Police Sunday at 2:36 a.m. at the traffic circle in Riverside after a chase that began on Montauk Highway in Quogue. Bumstead was charged with felony DWI and reckless driving, unlawful fleeing of a police officer and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all misdemeanors. Police said they spotted Bumstead speeding in Quogue, attempted to pull him over, but he then fled through Westhampton Beach to Riverside. Bumstead was charged with felony DWI because of a prior conviction, police said.

Mathew Guider, 24, of Quogue was arrested by Quogue Village Police Sunday at 2:20 a.m. on Jessup Avenue in Quogue and charged with aggravated DWI and driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol, both misdemeanors. Police said they stopped Guider when he did not use his blinker and then found that he was intoxicated. Police said Guider admitted that he had also taken prescription drugs.

Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument

George Luce, 19, of East Quogue was arrested by Quogue Village Police Thursday, June 23 at 9:35 p.m. on South Country Road in Quogue and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor. Luce had a forged New Jersey driver’s license, police said. A passenger in the car, an 18-year-old Westhampton Beach teen was also arrested by police and charged with possession of alcohol with intent to consume, a misdemeanor. Gusman had cans of Budweiser, police said.
