Police Search for Black Range Rover After Hit-and-Run

In a separate accident, officers arrest Westhampton man with forged license.

The victims of two hit-and-run accidents west of the canal were not severely injured but, are still on the hunt for a black Range Rover.

On Friday night, officers said they received a call about a hit-and-run on Wild Cherry Lane in East Quogue. A 39-year-old East Quogue man told police that his 11-year-old son was riding his bike on the street at around 6:24 p.m. when a black Range Rover heading east hit him.

The driver of the Range Rover did not stop or call police following the accident, according to police.

The 11-year-old boy suffered cuts and scrapes to his palm, arm and ankle, police said. The rear tire of the boy's bike was also damaged. The boy was driven to in Riverhead for treatment.

Police are checking the area to try to locate the car.

Then, on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., a 72-year-old Westhampton man told Southampton police that while he was walking through the parking lot of the Mill Road , someone in a 1998 Mercedes hit him. The man was not injured, but wrote down the license plate number and gave it to officers.

Shortly after, police arrested Faustino Sola-Perez, 41, of Westhampton at his home and charged him with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed driver, both traffic violations.

Police said Sola-Perez gave officers a forged Connecticut State driver’s license when they arrived at his home.
