Police Nonprofit Donates Cash To West Hampton Dunes Constables

New Taser and Alcho-Sensor device on the way for small agency.

The East End Police Foundation offered its financial support to the West Hampton Dunes Police Constabulary during the PC Officer's Summer Kickoff Party at John Scott’s Surf Shack on Friday.

The foundation donated $1,550 for the constabulary to buy equipment for maintaining officer and traffic safety in the small village.

The constabulary will buy one additional Taser and an Alcho-Sensor device, according to Sgt. Brian C. Hennig. "Due to the expense of updated equipment small municipalities are often left behind in this modern technology world," he said by email on Tuesday.

"The Constables work in a unique village that has its own challenges and budget restrictions," the foundation said in a statement. "These Officers find themselves working solo shifts and need all the possible tools available to give them the edge needed to protect local residents as well as themselves.

Village Mayor Gary Vegliante was also on hand for the party.

"Our village government is always supportive of us but the East End Police Foundation stepped in to help as well," Henning. "They are extremely dedicated and interested in continuing to provide for all the agencies on the East End. It's my hope that people continue to donate to this worthy organization."

The East End Police Foundation is a non-profit organization and any donations made to the foundation goes toward providing equipment and resources for police departments on the East End.
