Police: Graffiti Investigation Nets Three Arrests

Southampton Town Police say they have arrested three teens for graffiti-related crimes in Hamptons Bays and East Quogue. 

Police said there has been an increase in the number of graffiti "tags" found in the last few months that has caused alarm among Town residents.  The incidents are not deemed to be gang related, police said. 

The following three people were arrested on Saturday: 

• Cody McGovern, 19, of Hampton Bays, was arrested for defacing the Southampton Pines Long Island Railroad Underpass, located in the Southampton Pines Development in East Quogue, police said.  Officers from the Patrol Division caught McGovern in the act, as he was actively defacing the structure with his graffiti, police said. McGovern is charged with one count of making graffiti, a misdemeanor, two counts of possession of graffiti instruments, a misdemeanor, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana and trespass, both violations.  
• Christopher Eskesen, 19, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged one count of possession of graffiti instruments, a misdemeanor, and trespass, a violation. He is also charged with one count of making graffiti, a misdemeanor, as police said he was responsible for the defacement of the Tiana Bridge Long Island Rail Road overpass. 
• David Seifert, 19, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with one count of trespass, a violation, for actions observed by the investigating patrol officers, police said.
