Driving While Intoxicated, Unlicensed Driver and Attempted Burglary

Failure to Register a Change of Address as a Sex Offender

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at police headquarters in Hampton Bays, the Southampton Town Police arrested Anthony Purificato, 43, of Islandia for Failure to Register a Change of Address as a Sex Offender, a Felony. Purificato moved from his Riverside address in May and failed to report his new address. U.S. Marshalls found him living in a storage container in Islandia and brought him back to Southampton Town Police Headquarters where he was processed and sent to court for arraignment. Purificato was then remanded to the Suffolk County Jail.

On Wednesday Nov. 3, Southampton Town Police arrested Robert Keon Jr., 46, of Hampton Bays, for Driving While Intoxicated. Keon was observed operating his vehicle on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays when he was stopped for a traffic infraction. Upon further investigation it was determined that he was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and a records check revealed that Keon had a prior conviction for Driving While Intoxicated which made his current offense a felony. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and held for morning arraignment.

DWI - Bench Warrant

On Wednesday, Nov. 3, at about 11:30 a.m. on Montauk Hwy in Hampton Bays, the Southampton Town Police arrested Karen Bedoya, 22, of Hampton Bays on a Bench Warrant out of Southampton Town Court for failure to pay a fine resulting from a prior DWI and traffic infractions. She was transported to court and released after paying the fine.

Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree

On Thursday, Nov. 4, at 8:18 a.m. the Southampton Town Police arrested Kevin Brannigan, 47, of Hampton Bays on a Bench Warrant out of Southampton Town Justice Court for failure to appear on a prior charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree. Brannigan turned himself in at police headquarters and was brought to court where he was released on his own recognizance.

Attempted Burglary

On Sunday Nov. 7, at 1:12 a.m. the Southampton Police Department Communications Section received a call of the alarm activation at the Big Duck at 1012 Flanders Road in the Flanders, the section of Southampton Town. Upon arrival of patrol officers an apparent break-in was discovered. The rear door area appeared to have been kicked-in in a failed attempt to unlawfully enter the building, which is used as a museum and retail shop for the historic and unique building. The rear door and lock mechanisms were destroyed and the surrounding area of the door was damaged. The value of the damage was unknown at the time of this release.

The Detective Division is continuing the investigation. Due to the time of the incident and the location, it is believed that someone may have seen some activity in the area around the time of the incident, which may lead to identifying the perpetrator.
