UPDATE: Truck's Brakes Failed Before Plunging into Bay

Southampton Police say no one was injured.

According to Southampton Police, the brakes on a Ford pickup failed when the truck attempted to stop at the intersection of Lynn Avenue and Argonne Road East, leading to the truck plunging into the Shinnecock Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the "vehicle did not respond" at the stop sign, and proceeded to gain speed as it went down the hill to the end of Argonne Road, through a guard rail, through a bench, and into the bay.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 5 p.m.

The Dive team was on the scene to help remove the truck from the water, police said.
