No injuries in Early Morning Blaze

Westhampton Beach firefighters were called to an active fire on Tanners Neck Lane at 6 a.m.

Westhampton Beach firefighters extinguished an early morning blaze on Wednesday at a house under renovation at 13 Tanners Neck Lane.

The department was called to the scene at 6 a.m. to find the house partially in flames, but firefighters were able to knock the fire down quickly with the help of neighboring departments, including Quogue and Eastport.
The house was unoccupied at the time.

The flames broke through the roof of the home, which was being renovated, which made it easier to put the fire out, the department said.

In a statement, the department said, "Fortunately the fire had burned a hole in the roof which allowed much of the toxic smoke to vent from the house."

The Westhampton Beach War Memorial Ambulance stood by at the fire. No one was hurt.

Firefighters were on scene for two hours and the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Incident Commander Assistant Chief Bo Overton praised all the responders for their timely and professional response.
