Westhampton Beach Village Police found a 43-year-old man from Westhampton Beach drowned in his swimming pool Saturday afternoon.
Lieutenant Trevor Gonce said village police were called to a home on East Bayfield Lane at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, where they found Justin Podolsky of Manhattan performing CPR on Adam Stein, 43.
Police said Stein’s mother, Elaine Stein of Westhampton Beach, said she had gone to the home, which her son was renting, and found him floating in the pool. She began screaming for help and Podolsky, who was staying at a friend’s house nearby on Jessup Lane, ran and tried to save Stein.

Police and personnel from the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance continued to do CPR on Stein, and he was then taken to in Riverhead by the ambulance. Stein was pronounced dead there.
Gonce said police are investigating the drowning, which they said does not appear suspicious. A medical examiner’s report is pending.
