Man Stopped For Having No Brake Lights Charged With DWI

Also, a Flanders man is under arrest, charged with violating a court order of protection.

    The following arrests were reported by the Southampton Town Police Department over the past week. A charge is an accusation. Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

    Westhampton

    • Marcelino Perez-Tax, 44, of Westhampton, was arrested in Westhampton on Nov. 4 for allegedly driving drunk. According to police, Perez-Tax was driving a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer on Stewart Avenue at around 9 p.m. when he was stopped for multiple traffic violations. Police said when questioned, he appeared to be intoxicated and they said he performed poorly on a field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and having a suspended registration, a violation.

    • Joseph Seccafico, 42, of Hampton Bays, was arrested in Hampton Bays on Nov. 10 on a drunken driving charge. According to police Seccafico was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Lynn Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. when he was stopped for having no brake lights. Police said Seccafico had an odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet. He performed poorly on a field sobriety test, but refused to take a breathalyzer, according to police. He was arrested and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, having insufficient brake lamps and an uninspected motor vehicle, both violations.
    Flanders
    • A 27-year-old Flanders man was arrested in Flanders on Nov. 5 after he allegedly violated an order of protection and got into a physical confrontation with an alleged victim. Police said the man had been ordered to stay away from the victims on Sep. 10, but confronted them again on Nov. 4 at around 10 p.m. Police said the defendant pushed and punched his victim, knocking over a lamp in the living room at a Royal Avenue location. He was later arrested and charged with second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
