Man Steals Cartons of Cigaretts From Rite Aid, Then Flees

Also this week, a high school coach said his car was keyed.

The following is a round-up of arrests made by Westhampton Beach Police, as well as incidents reported over the past week.

Petty Larceny

— Westhampton Beach police are investigating a robbery that took place at Rite Aid in Westhampton Beach on Monday at 5:27 p.m.

According to police, a man with blonde hair, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans walked into the store and took two cartons of Palmar brand cigarettes, valued at $272, from behind a counter.

Police said the man then left the store and fled in a white pick-up truck.

Police were unable to locate the man, but have surveillance video from the store and are continuing their investigation.

Criminal Mischief

— On Tuesday, a coach at Westhampton Beach High School alerted police that sometime on Oct. 10, someone keyed his 2012 Acura while it was parked in the school's parking lot. Police said they are investigating.

Unauthorized Use of a Car

— Westhampton Beach police have charged a 32-year-old Westhampton Beach man after he turned himself into police on Oct. 11 for using his girlfriend's car without permission. Police said the man took the car on Oct. 9 at 3:30 a.m. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Police said the car was impounded in Nassau County after the man was involved in a car crash.
