Man Reports Mugging at Hampton Bays Train Station

Thirty-four-year-old Hampton Bays resident says three men stole his wallet.

A 34-year-old Hampton Bays resident told Saturday that three men mugged him two days earlier at the Hampton Bays Long Island Rail Road stop.

The victim said the three men approached him on the train platform after he exited the train at about 8:15 p.m. and asked for money. He told them he did not have any money and then one of the men grabbed him from behind while the other two went through his pockets, according to the incident report. The muggers than fled south into the woods.

The victim said his black leather wallet, containing his Social Security card, Florida driver's license, Bank of America debit card and $50 cash was taken. He told police he was more concerned about his Social Security card being lost and used than about the robbery.
