Man Crashes, Then Charged With DWI
Westhampton Beach police found the man on bridal Path.
A 19-year-old Riverhead man, who Westhampton Beach police said crashed into another car near Old Riverhead Road, was caught and charged with DWI on June 12.
Police said Daniel Lopez, was charged with the misdemeanor, when Westhampton Beach police were alerted by Quogue Village officers to keep a look-out for a gray car that had just left the scene of an accident and was last seen on South Country Road.
Westhampton Beach cops found the car on Bridal Path as Lopez turned into a driveway of a random home, then got out of the car, acting as if he lived there, police said.
In addition to being charged with DWI, Lopez was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a violation.
He was held and released on $300 bail.
