Police Incident Report: Computer Missing from Elementary School

$1,500 in copper pipes also reported stolen this week.

Grand Larceny

A Macbook laptop is missing from the , according to a report filed with police by Principal Ron Masera.

Masera told police that early this school year he leant one of the district’s Macbook laptops – valued between $1,200 and $1,300 – to a student and then discovered on Dec. 9 that it had not yet been returned.

Masera told police that he does not know what happened to the computer. He said the family of the student said that they gave it away and that it was later stolen.

Police are investigating.

Burglary

A 69-year-old Manhattan woman told police that sometime between 12:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at 11:55 a.m. and Dec. 12 someone broke her front door glass panel, reached through the window and unlocked the door at her home on Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays. The person then stole $1,500 in copper pipes from the basement, according to an incident report.

Petty Larceny

A 60-year-old Hampton Bays man told police that sometime between Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m. and Dec. 13 at 12:40 p.m. someone stole $530 worth of lumber from his driveway on West Tiana Road in Hampton Bays. Officers say they are investigating.
