Incident Reports: Burglar Spooked By Alarm

Crimes reported to Southampton police through July 8.

Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:

Petit Larceny

• A Remsenburg resident reported on July 7 that her son’s blue, white and black BMX bicycle was stolen out of her driveway around 3 p.m.

• A Hampton Bays resident said her iPhone and brown leather wallet were taken when she accidentally left them near the vegetable aisle in King Kullen in Hampton Bays on July 7.

• A skateboard, valued at $300, was reported stolen from the front yard of a house on West Tiana Road in Hampton Bays on July 6. The owner of the skateboard believes it was taken sometime between July 2 and July 3.

• The Riverhead Shell station reported to police on July 6 that a woman walked into the store and stole four Loko cans, valued at $3.59 each and a Margarita can, valued also at $3.59.

• A Flanders resident told police on July 6 that someone stole a car charger out of his car which was parked in a driveway.

Criminal Mischief

• A Hampton Bays resident called police on Saturday to report that while he was away someone had walked across his car, breaking his windshield. He told police that he does not know who could have done it.

Attempted Burglary

• A Hampton Bays man said he was awoken by someone trying to break into his home on July 7. The man told police the unknown person fled after the alarm sounded.

Burglary

• A Westhampton resident told police on July 5 that someone entered her home on Montauk Highway and stole $980 in cash. She told police that the money was in a jacket hanging on a coat hook in her front room. Detectives are investigating.

Grand Larceny

A Flanders business owner called police on July 2 to report that he was scammed out of $4,655 after he got a call from a person stating that he was from Moneygram and that the business owned money.
