Incident Report: Change Jars Go Missing
Also this week, a man said a motorcycle he had chained to a tree last year was taken.
Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department west of the Shinnecock Canal:
• A resident of Pepperidge Lane in Hampton Bays reported that between Jan. 15 and June 1, someone stole a jar of pennies from her home valued at $1,500.
• A landscaper working on Maryland Boulevard in Hampton Bays reported that on May 30, around 2:30 p.m., someone in a silver or gray vehicle stopped and stole his blower, valued at $600, and two five-gallon buckets with $50 worth of contents in them.
• A resident of Lynn Avenue of Hampton Bays reported that after leaving his motorcycle chained to a tree last November, it was not there upon returning in mid-April. Police reports state the man had been using the motorcycle for parts and it did not run, and was last registered in 1983.
• An East Quogue man reported that $400 in loose change, and a $500 generator, had been stolen from his home over the winter while he was living in Florida.
According to police reports, the man had a tenant living at his home and believes he took them when he left.
