Incident Report: Arrest Follows Hit-and-Run
Man reportedly leaves car crash with no injuries.
Crimes and suspicious incidents recently reported to the Southampton Town Police Department:
• A customer of TD Bank in Hampton Bays reported on May 11 that over $550 in faulty charges had been made. According to police reports, the bank contacted her regarding suspicious withdrawals in the metro area on May 1, at $400 and $60. Gas station charges for $50 and $62 were also reported. The incident is being investigated as a grand larceny in the fourth degree.
• A Hampton Bays man reported on May 11 that he was struck by a vehicle on County Road 39 in Tuckahoe around 2:50 p.m. According to police reports, the man reported that the person who hit him left the scene, and was later caught by police.
The reported hit-and-run driver was later issued a summons for leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, having substandard tires, failing to maintain his lane, and other violations. No injuries were reported in the incident. Editor’s note: Patch does not name individuals charged with anything less severe than a misdemeanor as the top crime.
