Hampton Bays Teen Charged With Burglary

Alexander L. Thomas, 17, of Hampton Bays was charged in connection with three burglaries.

Southampton Town Police said on Wednesday that they have charged a Hampton Bays teen in connect with three burglaries.

According to police, Alexander Thomas, 17 was nabbed after they received a call on Nov. 25 at 1:50 p.m. that some kids were breaking into a home at 11 William Street in Hampton Bays. On scene, police said they witnessed a broken glass window and one teen inside the home.

The teen, Thomas, ran from police.

Police said they were able to apprehend him and charged him with criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and for burglarizing two other locations, one on Nov. 17 and the other on Nov. 15.

In the first case, police say Thomas broke into a home on Columbine Avenue North, damaging the interior of the house. In the second case, police alledged that Thomas stole $300 worth of cigarettes and $10 in cash from Minpueblo Deli.

Thomas was held overnight and brought to Southampton Justice Court where he was remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
