Hampton Bays Sex Offender Arrested

Police say a 40-year-old Hampton Bays Man failed to register as a sex offender.

say that John Keane, 40, of Hampton Bays was arrested on a Southampton Town warrant for failure to register as a sex offender as required by law.

Keane was caught at the Crystal Plaza Catering Hall in Livingston, New Jersey on on March 27.

Police say he was taken to Essex County Jail and will be transported to New York.

The arrest was made, said police though a join investigation with the Suffolk County Police Special Victims Unit and the United States Marshals Sex Offender Investigation Branch.

According to the New York State Divison of Criminal Justice Services website, Keane was convicted in October 2009. He is classified as a level 2 sex offender.
