Crimes Nearby: Montauk Bouncer Arrested

Also: House that was devastated by fire in March is now being burglarized.

The following information was supplied by the East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

EAST HAMPTON

Andreas E. Gemellas, 24, of Key West, Fla., a bouncer at the Sloppy Tuna in Montauk, was arrested and charged with a felony after he reportedly strangled a patron he was removing from the bar and restaurant on Sept. 1.

Police said they were called to the Sloppy Tuna for a victim of violence and found a 27-year-old man from Yonkers, who was missing a front tooth, and had cuts and scrapes on his forehead and nose. The alleged victim told them he had been escorted off the property by a bouncer.

Gemellas told police that the man had tried to cut the line and get into the bar. but was told he had to wait. The man slipped past him, and Gemellas later escorted him out. He told police he had no intention of hurting the man, police said in a report.

SOUTHAMPTON

Police are investigating a grand larceny in Noyac that was reported on Aug. 31. According to police, the victim called 911 at around 12:45 p.m. after she noticed items were missing from the construction site of her Fourteen Hills Court home for the third time. The victim said the home is being rebuilt after the house was destroyed by fire in March, and since that time, someone stole $1,000 worth of copper pipe, a $700 electrical cable and a $200 gas-powered hedge trimmer. The victim said didn’t think of reporting the thefts until this third instance. Police requested overnight patrols of the area.

A resident on Bay View Drive in Noyac said someone broke into their home and took jewelry from a bedroom and bathroom on Aug. 27. Police were called around 7:30 p.m. Southampton Town police said it appears the thief got into the house through a front window that was opened after a screw was removed. A $500 watch, $200 pearl earrings, $300 gold earrings, assorted costume jewelry, a $300 Claddagh ring and a University of Michigan pin of undetermined value were reported stolen.  

Someone broke into a home in North Sea while the occupant was still asleep on Aug. 28 and made off with the occupant’s vehicle and other valuables. According to police a man staying at a friend’s house on Big Fresh Pond Road called 911 at 8 a.m. to report that after he’d gone to sleep somebody entered through an unlocked screen door at the front of the home. The burglar took the man’s Coach wallet with cash and credit cards and then swiped the keys to his blue 2007 Toyota Prius and drove off. The victim said the keys were resting on a small table near the entrance to the home, in plain view. The investigation is ongoing.
