Crimes Nearby: More Charges, Bail Raised for Hidden Camera Suspect

The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

The following is a round-up of crimes on the East End of Long Island during the week of Oct. 8.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Three additional counts of unlawful surveillance have been leveled against 51-year-old Robert Liguori, a level-two sex offender from Mastic Beach, who was already jailed on charges of surreptitiously placing a video camera in the models' changing area during a swimsuit fashion show in Southampton Village in July. On Oct. 5, a grand jury offered up a new eight-count indictment supersedes a previous one that included five felony counts of unlawful surveillance. He pleaded not guilty on Wednesday and was ordered held on $30,000 cash bail or $80,000 bond.

• The owner of a 2012 BMW reported to Southampton Town police Oct. 5 that his vehicle was stolen from a driveway on St. Andrews Road in Southampton. Several wedding presents, he said, had been locked in the trunk, such as Wedgewood china, a Sodastream appliance and a portable baby crib.

• A 47-year-old woman from Great Neck was drunk and carrying an 8-year-old passenger when she caused a chain-reaction rear-end accident in Bridgehampton in Monday, according to police. Southampton Town police said Lee Introp was driving on Montauk Highway when she hit a vehicle so hard that it was pushed into the rear of a third vehicle. Bridgehampton Fire Departmentresponded to the accident to clean up a fuel spill. Introp was arrested at 6:09 p.m. and charged with aggravated DWI with a child in vehicle, a felony charge under Leandra's Law. She was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. There were no injuries reported. Police said the child was returned to the custody of his parents.

• Juan M. Osorio, 46, of East Hampton, was arrested Oct. 2 at 8:52 a.m. and charged with felony DWI. Southampton Village police said that at 8:24 a.m. they received a call of a possibly intoxicated motorist. Upon arrival, police  stopped Osorio, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra, on Mariner Drive and he was placed under arrest. Police said Osorio has two previous DWI convictions.  His vehicle was seized under the Suffolk County Vehicle Seizure Law.

• Olena Tymofieievaschwart, 35, of Manhattan, was arrested Oct. 3 at 6:28 p.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony, as well as DWI and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, both misdemeanors. Southampton Village police said they responded to a call of an intoxicated person getting into a vehicle in the Waldbaum's parking lot. When an officer arrived, Tymofieievaschwart was found slouched over the wheel of a 2012 Mercedes Benz with the key in the ignition, according to police. A check of her driver’s license revealed a revocation on December 29, 2011, for refusing to submit to a chemical test and a suspension on March 18, 2012, for driving while ability impaired by alcohol, police said. The vehicle was impounded. Tymofieievaschwart was processed and held for morning arraignment.

EAST HAMPTON

• A 17-year-old East Hampton girl was arrested after she was pulled over smoking marijuana and found in possession of a stolen credit card on Oct. 6 at about 10:15 p.m. Police said they pulled her over at the rest area on Montauk Highway, near Stephen Hands Path, in a 2011 GMC because it had no license plate lights. There was a story odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, police said, and they found a marijuana cigarette in the glove box. Her wallet reportedly contained a Bank of America credit card that belonged to someone else. She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, unlawful possession of marijuana and inadequate tail lights, both violations. Police withheld her name due to her age.

RIVERHEAD

• Noel Castaneda, 26, of Riverhead, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident on Oct. 7 at 7:58 p.m., after Castaneda was involved in a car accident on Sound Avenue in Mattituck, police said. After the crash, Castaneda fled eastbound on foot and was found a short time later by the Southold Town Police K-9 unit. Castaneda was found to be intoxicated, arrested and transported to police headquarters in Peconic for processing

NORTH FORK

• William J. Kennedy, 52, of Cutchogue, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Oct. 7 at 3:58 a.m., after he was stopped for a traffic offence on Route 25 in Cutchogue and was found to be in possession of cocaine, police said. Kennedy was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing.

• Rosemarie Stepnoski, 35, of Southold, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass on Oct. 5 at 3:08 a.m., after a Greenport woman called police to report that an unknown female had entered her residence on Fifth Street during the night through an unlocked rear door and was sleeping on her couch, police said. Officers responded and located Stepnoski inside the residence who was intoxicated and thought she was at a friend's house, police said. Stepnoski was arrested, transported to headquarters, processed and released on an appearance ticket for a later court date.
