Crimes Nearby: Man Convicted of Greenport Murder to Be Executed in Florida

The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Former North Fork resident Robert Waterhouse, who has spent decades on death row at Florida State Prison, is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Feb. 15 at 6 p.m., according to reports on sunshineslate.com and westorlandonews.com.
Florida governor Rick Scott signed the order of execution — his first of the year — on Jan. 4. Waterhouse, 65, was sentenced to life in 1967 for the 1966 rape-murder of 77-year-old Greenport resident Ella Carter. While out on lifetime parole in 1980, he raped and killed Deborah Kammerer in St. Petersburg, Fla., and was convicted of first-degree murder, according to the reports.

• Kevin Carroll, 49, of Fishers Island, was arrested on Jan.7 at 9:30 a.m. by Southold Town Police detectives on charges of theft and failure to pay child support, police reported. Carroll had active arrest warrants out of Baltimore County, Maryland, police said. He was arrested without incident, transported by Southold Town Police Bay Constables to police headquarters in Peconic for processing and was turned over to the Suffolk County Police Fugitive Squad for extradition to Maryland, police said.

• David Skaritka, 21, of Coram, was charged with driving while impaired by drugs on Jan. 7 at 7:32 a.m., after police found him stopped on the westbound lane of Route 48 near Albertsons Lane in Greenport with the engine running and the vehicle in reverse, police said. After investigation, Skaritka was found to be impaired by drugs and resisted arrest, police said. He was taken to police headquarters in Peconic where he was processed.

• Vanessa Olivia Shaw, 48, of Riverhead, was arrested Jan. 6 on Vail Avenue in Riverside and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and menacing in the second degree, both felonies. Police said a victim reported Shaw came up to him with a box cutter.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Alexander C. Haje, 25, of Southampton, was arrested Jan. 3 at 10:11 p.m. on Big Fresh Pond Road in North Sea and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and moving from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction. Police said Haje was involved in a car accident and found to be intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters in Hampton Bays, where he was held overnight for morning arraignment.

EAST HAMPTON

• have charged two East Hampton men in connection with outside of after a rapper's mixtape release party late last month. On Jan. 5, Kyle T. Russell, 29, and his cousin Michael E. Russell, 21, turned themselves in after warrants were issued for their arrests. Kyle was charged with unlawful assembly, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation. Meanwhile, Michael was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct. Read more here.

• A Springs man is being held on $10,000 bail after he was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge on Jan. 2. Juan G. Chiquiana Flores, 27, was charged with two felonies, driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, after he was pulled over on Springs Fireplace Road at 1:45 a.m. A check of his license showed it was revoked for a driving while intoxicated on Jan. 7, 2010.
