Crimes Nearby: Teen Caught With Stolen Car

According to Riverhead Police Det. Tim Hubbard, 19-year-old Tremel Kelly was caught at 3:50 p.m. after a call came into Riverhead station shortly before 10:30 a.m. asking for assistance pursuing a suspect that had fled from Southampton's jurisdiction.
Southampton Police were reportedly pursuing a man wanted in relation to a stolen vehicle - later found to be Kelly, according to police - and the pursuit brought cops into the Millbrook Gables neighborhood. The driver of the vehicle then reportedly fled on foot, and was later located shortly before 4 p.m. He was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and resisting arrest, and was arrested on a bench warrant.

• Olimpio Colon, 41, was arrested for disorderly conduct on March 30 for disorderly conduct after he was observed on the Long Island Railroad platform highly intoxicated and falling on passengers waiting for the train. He eventually fell asleep on the LIRR platform and restricted the free movement of pedestrians. He was removed, arrested and processed at Riverhead headquarter and held due to his state of intoxication.

EAST HAMPTON

• A 17-year-old from East Hampton was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, as a felony, under Leandra's Law, child endangerment, possession of marijuana, and several other violations following an accident on March 24. The driver's name was withheld due to his youthful offender status. Police said the driver was behind the wheel of an uninsured 2006 Toyota with his 15-year-old brother and a 17-year-old boy as passengers when he crashed with with a 2000 Jeep as he tried to turn onto Austin Road from Three Mile Harbor Road at about 12:40 a.m. The driver of the Jeep complained of injuries, but neither she nor the occupants of the other car were taken to the hospital. Justice Cahill set bail at $5,000.

• This week, police released the name of the driver who allegedly drove drunk in an Amagansett crash that sent two to the hospital. Christian L. Topping, 31, of Bridgehampton, was arrested and charged with DWI after he. Police said they were called to the accident at 3:18 p.m. When they arrived, they saw a man in a sweatshirt and navy pants walking away from the scene. One woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center to be treated for her injuries and another woman, the owner of the Chevy truck that crashed, was taken to Southampton Hospital. Another passenger was not injured. Topping refused to take a field sobriety test or a breath test at headquarters. He was held overnight and released on his own recognizance.

• A 17-year-old from Shirley was charged with criminal impersonation in the second-degree, a misdemeanor, during the parade in Montauk on March 25. Police on foot patrol observed the defendant holding an open Bud Light beer can in public on Montauk Highway. When asked for his identification, he identified himself as someone else. They also found him in possession of 29 beer cans, all of which was confiscated. He was released into the custody of his father.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Joseph L. Marciniak, 28, of East Hampton, was arrested March 1 at 1:19 a.m. and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Sag Harbor Village police said Marciniak hit a wooden guard rail on then parked across two spots. According to the arrest report, an officer approached Marciniak and noticed his breath smelled of an alcoholic beverage, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he had an unsteady gait and his speech was slurred. He was taken to police headquarters, also issued a parking ticket, and held overnight for arraignment, police said.

• Carmine Cornacchio, 52, of North Sea, was arrested April 1 at 12:14 a.m. and charged with DWI, a class-E felony due to a previous drunk driving conviction, Southampton Town police said. Cops reported that Cornacchio attempted to flee the scene of a solo accident in which he drove his car off the roadway at the intersection of Ruggs Path and Noyac Road, causing property damage in the residential area. Cornacchio, soon after, was apprehended on foot near the intersection of Old Sag Harbor Road and Brick Kiln Road. In addition to a felony count of DWI, Cornacchio was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, an infraction.

• Oscar Mauricio Franco, 37, of Southampton, was arrested March 31 at approximately 10:44 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a felony. Southampton Village police said Franco broke the windows out of a car that was parked on Jagger Lane, causing damage in excess of $1,500. In addition, he had an outstanding warrant from the Palm Beach County sheriff’s office, according to police.

NORTH FORK

• A a man who was allegedly breaking into Floyd Memorial Library early Tuesday morning.
Gillian Wood-Pultz, who said she couldn't resist bringing little Tula Rubia home with her after a recent volunteer trip to Mexico, said it was about 12:45 a.m. when her dog jumped off the bed - something she had never done before.
Paul Mittleman, 48, was later arrested on criminal mischief charges. Police responded and allegedly found Mittleman in the basement, with cuts he sustained after reportedly crawling through the basement window.

• Lacole Smith, 24, of Riverhead, was arrested on felony charges of identity theft in the second degree on Sunday.
According to Southold Police, an 89-year-old Greenport resident reported in mid-January that someone had charged something his or her credit card.
Following an investigation, police reported that Smith used the victim's credit card information to pay her Cablevision bill.

• A Laurel man was arrested on Saturday for reportedly stealing a motorcycle from a Mattituck resident.
According to Southold Police, 21-year-old Frank Fenoy Jr. was arrested on charges of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree. Police said that a 46-year-old
Mattituck resident reported last September that three dirtbikes/motorcycles were stolen.
On Saturday, Fenoy was arrested, processed, and released on bail to appear in Riverhead Town Justice Court.
