Crime Report: Public Lewdness, Criminal Contempt, and DWIs

Reportedly homeless man charged with felony criminal contempt.

Felony Criminal Contempt

Louis P. Mannino, 46, who police said was homeless, was arrested Jan. 24 at around 11:49 p.m. and charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony. Police said Mannino was at a Rampasture Road residence in violation of a order of protection.

Larceny

Barry Eugene Mills, 54, of Quogue was arrested Friday at around 7:35 p.m. and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Police said Mills was spotted in Quogue with a fuel can filled with several gallons of diesel fuel. When confronted, he said he siphoned it from a Chesterfield Associates tank without permission.

DWI

Peter R. Lelakowski, 27, of Hampton Bays was arrested Sunday at around 12:40 p.m. and charged with misdemeanor DWI and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Police said they were called to King Street in Hampton Bays on a report of an overturned vehicle and the driver walking away. Police said Lelakowski was found to be intoxicated and admitted to being the driver of the overturned Yukon and walking away. He was transported to police headquarters in Hampton Bays, where he refused to take a chemical test, police said.

Tito Canel, 46, of Flanders was arrested Saturday at around 10:20 p.m. and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Canel was stopped for a failure to signal on Flanders Road and failed field sobriety tests.

Public Lewdness

Luis Jacinto, 32, of Flanders was arrested on Jan. 26 at his home and charged with public lewdness, a misdemeanor. Police said that two days earlier Jacinto exposed himself to a female employee while inside a deli in Flanders.

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

Shawanna A. James, 38, of Riverhead was arrested Jan. 17 at around 2 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said James was pulled over for a traffic stop in Riverside at Peconic Ave and the Route 24 traffic circle and found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.
