Crime Report: Larceny, Burglary and Illegal Dumping

Police blotter for Hampton Bays for the week of Nov. 28 through Dec.6

Petit Larceny 

On Dec. 12 police were called to McDonald's in Hampton Bays when a man reported his bike stolen after a verbal agreement with another man. Police found the bike 100-feet east of McDonald's on Montauk Highway.  About 90 minutes, later, police say Louis Cancel of Hampton Bays turned himself in. He was arrested for petit larceny.

On Dec. 24, John Flanagan of Hampton Bays was issued a filed ticket after failing to wear his seat belt.  Police also found that Flanagan had multiple license suspensions and two active warrants.

Burglary

A resident of Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays called police after he found that someone had broken into his home on Nov. 29.  The resident reported that a side window was damaged and property including, diamond earrings, a wedding band and bracelets were taken.

Mischief

A resident of Nassau Lane in Hampton Bays called police on Nov. 28 after he found his mailbox knocked of its post.

Harassment

Police responded to a domestic incident at a home on Steward Avenue in Westhampton on Nov. 30.  The victim reported that she as grabbed by the throat and shoved. 

Leaving the Scene of an Accident

On Dec. 3, a motorist reported that someone rear ended her at the corner of Mill Road and Montauk Highway in Westhampton and then then fled the scene. 

Illegal Dumping

On Dec. 3, police were called when someone spotted a person dumping large piles of sand and shrubs in the rear parking lot of 80 East Montauk Highway. There are no suspects at this time.
