Crime Report: DWI, Drugs and Harassment

Police blotter for Hampton Bays for the week of Jan. 17 through Jan. 24

Gerome Williams, 34, of Tiana Road in Hampton Bays, was arrested at his home on Wednesday for texting messages to his ex-girlfriend, who has an order of protection against him.  He was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor. 

Bruce Vanhoy, 45, of East Quogue, was arrested on Friday on charges of harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor.  Vanhoy was arrested at Southampton Police headquarters while being interviewed regarding a domestic incident with his estranged wife.

Dawn Christian, 46, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on Tuesday on East Montauk Highway and Bittersweet Road in Hampton Bays after police observed her failing to signal and backing up on East Montauk Highway.  Police found that Christian was unlicensed and driving her vehicle without an ignition interlock devise, which was required due to a prior restriction on her license. According to police, Christian was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock devise, both misdemeanors. She was also charged with three infractions, Failure to Signal and unsafe backing up and unlicensed operator.

On Saturday at 2:01 a.m., New York State Troopers stopped a white Chevrolet for speeding on the eastbound side of State Route 27 near exit 63 in Southampton.  While speaking with the driver, Francisco Velasquez, 27, of Westhampton, the troopers noticed a strong odor of alcohol.  Velasquez failed sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. He was also charged with traffic violations. 

Ryan Parchment, 23, of Shirley, was arrested in East Quogue on Saturday when police found him swerving on Old Country Road, as well as speeding.  Police found that his licence was suspended and that he had in his possession a bag of marijuanna.  He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the second degree, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Leonard Demarco, 60, of Coram, was observed on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays driving through a dry cleaner parking lot and down a sidewalk on Tuesday.  He was stopped near the firehouse on various traffic violations. He was found to have a suspended licence.  Police impounded his car and charged him with aggravated unlicenced operation of a vehicle in the second degree, no hands on the wheel and failure to signal.

Jessica Seaman, 21, of Hampton Bays was arrested on Thursday after police found that she was driving under the influence of  alcohol She was stopped for a traffic infraction near the intersection of Montauk Highway and Flanders Road in Hampton Bays.  Police say they could smell alcohol on Seaman and her eyes appeared glassy. She was give a sobriety test and police say, she performed poorly.  She was charged with DWAI by alcohol and for having non-transparent side windows.

Charges are merely accusations. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A name will only be removed if the accused has been acquitted and can provide a certificate of disposition. Contact the editor to make such a request.
